Providing A Safe Working Environment For All
Accident prevention, a critical function of construction safety, can only be successful when all employees, subcontractors and their personnel give their full cooperation. We are determined to operate to the best of our ability through the use of solid planning, workplace knowledge, and sound judgment. Heroica Construction requires all supervisors and personnel to comply with our general contractors safety program.
Our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is .84, an outstanding achievement for any contractor in business.
At each job site, we appoint a competent individual who will assume the responsibility of our safety program and can take immediate action on safety violations. This individual is required to regularly attend safety meetings and ensure the availability and usage of safety equipment.
When a subcontractor is hired to perform work alongside the Heroica Construction team, they will be required to adhere to our construction safety program unless they submit and receive approval of their own safety program.
Heroica Construction is responsible for labeling all materials as to their content and will provide data sheets for any hazardous materials. Hazardous materials will be stored and used in accordance with the material safety data sheets. In addition, all hazardous wastes are to be disposed of in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
While on-site, our supervisors are responsible for maintaining and setting a proper example of safe working conditions. The supervisor will also be required to ensure all employees are aware of and follow the safety rules and regulations, while using the necessary personal protective equipment.
In the unlikely event an accident occurs, the project supervisor will thoroughly investigate as soon as possible. A written report of the investigation will be prepared using the Accident Investigation Report Form. Each investigation will bring out the cause of the accident and what action is taken to prevent recurrence.
The foreman or appointed safety supervisor will hold weekly toolbox type safety meetings, with unscheduled meetings being held as necessary. In addition, a semi-annual safety meeting with all supervisors and job foremen will be held to inform individuals of the latest OSHA safety regulations.
Each week a project is in progress, the construction safety supervisor will be held accountable for conducting an audit to ensure a safe workplace. The purpose of the job inspection is to:
- Elimination of accident causes, correction of unsafe materials, and unsatisfactory job conditions.
- Elimination of electrical and fire hazards.
- Proper handling and storage of materials.
- Proper usage of all personal protective equipment.
At Heroica Construction, we take safety violations seriously. First offenders will receive a verbal or written warning and a second incidence will result in a one-day suspension. If an individual exceeds two safety violations, they will be permanently dismissed from the worksite.
In addition to our safety program, we expect all personnel, subcontractors, and tradesmen to comply entirely with the rules and regulations of OSHA, State, and Local governances.
