Commercial Cost Estimator

1. EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Salary
2. COMPENSATION: Compensation is based on experience
3. MARKET AREA: Northeast
4. REPORTS TO: The estimator reports to the Chief Estimator or his designee

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

1. Attend various training sessions throughout the year
2. Attend networking oriented events
3. Keeps track of all daily activity
4. Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates
5. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
6. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and subcontractors pricing.
7. Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors on estimates
8. Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
9. Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
10. Travel to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor requirements, and other factors when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have field knowledge equivalent to a trades person, foreman or superintendent completing a variety of painting, drywall, metal stud framing, ceramic tile flooring, ceiling projects and rough and finish carpentry.
2. Must assume some project management duties as defined by the company.
3. Proficient with MS Office, Master Builders/Sage 100, Plan Swift, and the Internet.
4. Must be able to build and maintain databases and assemblies for efficient estimating.
5. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
6. Able to write proposals and Job Reports.
7. Associate/Bachelor degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Climb, squat, and bend to accomplish necessary tasks and occasionally may lift up to 35 lbs.
2. Daily schedule must be flexible based on client’s requirements or when bidding deadlines must be met.
